More tests, and a possible treatment

We saw the infection doctor today in New Orleans, two of them actually. The consensus was that we needed to run a few more blood tests and if no new clues were found, then she needs to be on antibiotics for 12 weeks to prevent whatever caused the infection from coming back. The bloodwork will take about a week to come in.

All things considered, we are still very happy that an infection caused the fracture and not something much worse. Megan continues to feel great and is free to participate in dancing and most school activities.

No Malignancy Found!

We received the wonderful news today that there was no Malignancy found in Megan's biopsy. Words cannot describe the relief I feel now. Thank you to everyone who prayed for her.

She has been diagnosed with osteomyelitis, which means her bone is (or was) infected. We will see a specialist next week to find out about any future treatments. However, all of her most recent blood tests show no sign of infection, so I'm optimistic that she is already over whatever it was.

And, thanks to Dr. Baty and the corrective surgery he did, she continues to feel great. She is back at school and happy as ever. Yay!

Feeling Good for Church

All Better

I know it's hard to believe, but Megan is feeling all better. She woke up this morning with no pain and is dancing and singing along with spongebob as we speak. The neurosurgeon said that kids recover quickly, so it should be no surprise to me, but it is. I mean a mosquito bite is usually a minor emergency for her.

She may just feel great because she had a full nights sleep and might feel pain as the day progresses, but we can deal with that as needed. I am just really grateful to see her dimples again :)

Over the hump

She is feeling much better now that the anesthesia is more out of her system. Walking and playing and shopping in the gift shop. Her pain is much lower too. Should get our discharge papers any time now.

Sleeping Well

The surgery went well. She is out of recovery and is pretty comfortable. Biopsy results haven't come in yet. Probably going home in the morning. Good night!

waiting

Megan had her "happy syrup" and was wheeled off to the operating room about an hour ago and we are waiting to hear that the procedure has started. My thoughts now are focused on the doctors finding whatever they need and the repair going smoothly. Here is how we passed the time waiting for surgery
