Sleeping Well

The surgery went well. She is out of recovery and is pretty comfortable. Biopsy results haven't come in yet. Probably going home in the morning. Good night!

waiting

Megan had her "happy syrup" and was wheeled off to the operating room about an hour ago and we are waiting to hear that the procedure has started. My thoughts now are focused on the doctors finding whatever they need and the repair going smoothly. Here is how we passed the time waiting for surgery

Megan's Back (pun intended)

I started this blog a while ago as a fun way to show Megan's personality through her clothing choices. Life being what it is, I got really busy and haven't updated in a while.

Now, I want to share with friends and family updates on my sweet girl's recent back injury as it looks like it will be somewhat of a journey through the unknown.

Here is what we know:
  • Megan has a compression fracture to the bony process of one of her thoracic spinal bones
  • Bloodwork has shown no indication to the cause of the fracture
  • A brace was prescribed which has helped greatly with the pain she was experiencing
  • She has a biopsy scheduled to determine the cause of the fracture
  • At the same time, the neurosurgeon will do a kyphoplasty to prop up the bone and (hopefully) more permanently relieve her pain

The unknowns:
  • The cause of the injury
  • How long she will have to wear a brace and restrict her activities

Megan has been wonderful even though she's been poked and prodded for 6 weeks now. She rarely complains about wearing her brace and feels so good that we have to remind her to take it easy.

My hope is that, by blogging her updates, our friends and family can stay up to date with Megan's status. Please keep in your prayers that Megan has a full and speedy recovery and that she continues to be brave and strong throughout this process.
